Spooky Spiders for Halloween: Low Histamine Low Amine Low Salicylate

Halloween is just around the corner, and it’s time to get creative in the kitchen. For those mindful of histamine and salicylates, these scary spiders and scarily tasty and easy to make.


Scary Spider Treats: A Fun and Tasty Recipe


Let’s dive into the highlight: Scary Spider Treats! This delightful recipe is not only visually appealing but also easy to prepare.


The Creepy Spider Body (5 minutes to make, makes 9 balls)


Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup rolled or quick oats

  • 3 Tablespoons carob powder plus extra for rolling, if desired

  • ⅛ teaspoon salt

  • 2 Tablespoons cashew butter

  • 2 Tablespoons maple syrup

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence/extract


Method:

  1. Process the oats until fine like flour.

  2. Pulse in the carob and salt.

  3. Add in the remaining ingredients and process until a large bowl forms.

  4. Roll the mixture into balls and in carob powder, if desired.


See picrture below re: balls, but flatten more than this for the spider body so you can add the pretzel legs.

Adding the Legs


Use Pretzels (made from wheat) to make the legs, using the picture below as a guide (for the legs only as the body is clearly higher in salicylates and amines with the added dessicated coconut).
